Stendhal FAQ
Death Match
- What is the Death Match?
- Death Match or DM is a challenge for players above level 20. You must kill 10 creatures which spawn in the arena.
- How do I get into Death Match?
- Find the Recruiter Thonatus who walks around Ados Swamp
- What is the Death Match reward?
- A trophy helmet. The DEF increases by +1 with every DM you complete.
- What's the formula for the maximum my helmet can be?
- Floor (level/5) + 5. Floor means the nearest integer if you round down.
- Why don't I get XP in DM?
- You get a score instead, it can be viewed on the Hall of Fame at [1]
- What happens if I die in DM?
- It's like a normal death. You lose XP, atk XP, def XP and possibly items.
- Can I bail?
- Yes you lose less XP than you would if you die and you are teleported away.
- Why do I go to semos plain north when I ask the recruiter to leave?
- Why not
- Why do I get teleported to some mountains if I log out in DM?
- Because logging out to avoid death is cowardly
- Why can't I use a scroll in DM?
- Because you should either bail or die or complete the DM and ask to leave if you want to leave.
- Why are there damaging spikes at the edge of the arena?
- Playing in the centre is more fun, all the creatures want to be near you :)
- Can my friends help me in DM?
- Sure, they can join in the normal way, as long as they are also over level 20.
- Why doesn't my victory always get accepted?
- DM is still a bit buggy, it's a beta version. Here are some tips to maximise your chance of completeing it without coming across a bug:
- Always wait at least 30 seconds after the 10th creature is killed before you claim victory, Thanatos needs time to check the arena.
- Avoid doing DM when you have an active Mayor mission from Mayor Sakhs. It seems to confuse matters
- Attempt to finish each DM within approximately 30 minutes. You may need help for this from another player.
