As though as the planning for the last summer social meeting 2010 was a bit stressful and just in time, I would like to suggest an earlier planning here to make sure that we find a place this time in which we can combine some sighseeing with fun and seing something from the region as well around the place where we will stay at :)

Somewhere in February/March/April ?
Vanessa: I'm personally "free" from februrary (from the 12th) up to the first march weekend and up from the 22nd of March to the first of april (which isn't that a long time distance :( shitty term papers!!!)
Simon: I have to check again when I can get some free days. But the general date in february/march/april ist fine :) (other dates may be also okay if I can get some free days then)
Plassy has holidays from the 21.2. till 25.2. and 16.5. till 27.5.
Katie: Can't do: 6th Feb, 19th Feb, or 21st and 22nd Feb. I prefer to do this before 31st March because I thought we planned a holiday and so I saved my holiday days and worked all through Christmas. They expire by 1st April.
Vanessa (again :D): I have holidays around eastern (maybe a job there, so that is vague) from the 22. till 25. april. These two weeks around eastern are school holidays in Germany, so we have to book fast if we want to have the meeting in that time there :), could be that I have a job from april to may --> forgot about university :P it starts again on the first of april, so I'm just available at the weekends there, not on thursday and friday up to evening
Simon says: I checked my dates where it is possible to get some free days. Some dates are definetely impossible for me. The ones which are marked as "probably" and "maybe" are the dates where I would have to take free days, the dates marked with "yes" are nearly completely safe. It should be no problem to take some free days, but as I said, I have no 100 percent chance that it will definetely work.
How long?
3-4 days like in Hilchenbach? (would be thursday-sunday)
Simon: Yes, four days is nice in my view :) The last meeting wasn't too short and also not too long ;)
Over a weekend is necessary for most people who work normal mon-fri type jobs
A Place to stay
Hotel rooms --> flexible in relation to number of attendees, everyone can search for a hotel after his "needs"
"Hilchenbach-like" house/apartment in which everyone can stay at --> more familial but related to the numbers of attendees, insecure (also related to price)

Not many holiday appartments or holiday houses around --> Vanessa: Checked some of the main pages for such stuff, but just found the link below wich would take enough place for us all (there are around 10 people who will maybe join)
or workshops, I.e. more practical and collaborative but still stendhal development as a focus
Personally I think some little focus might be fun even if just one day. Not necessarily formal talks as we may not have the equipment but perhaps some workshops would work well. Kymara

barbecue? --> maybe not the right time of a year for having a barbecue, definetly related to weather and location
If we're in a rural location we could bring a ball or something and play some outdoor games .. that would have been cool in hilchenbach
