*  stendhal is incompatible with gjc, so installing gjc is likely to cause trouble as it has a higher update-alternative score than Suns Java

Interesting we have tested this two times and it runs perfect on both systems.

Would be unnecessary if Arianne would take the time to make sure they tested their packages for missing libs and folders before posting them. Not to mention it would be nice to have tuts to help new people here, instead of snubbing them in an IRC chat.

Fixed! Yes it was a typo that was overlooked as to why we are here today rereading and retesting the tuts.

You don't want the tuts here fine. We will move them to our site.

concept - why specific to ubuntu 8.04, stendhal 0.70, marauroa 2.6?

I think the overall concept of a page for a very specific flavour of OS is a bad idea. Instructions can be given in a general way for all Linux OS's or at the very least all debian distros (ubuntu is one of them.

Also as on other pages, the instructions may be generalised to Stendhal 0.XX and Marauroa 2.XX. This guide would else become outdated at the very next release. Are you planning on making a new one every release? The title includes even all the release numbers so it's not like you could edit it for the new versions. We release often. But, we already have general guides. If you think the general guides are lacking info please add to them rather than creating a new page. It is confusing for new users of the wiki or arianne project to have umpteen different guides to choose from.

I am not going to rise to replying to the jibes aimed here at the arianne team, I will merely say they are inaccurate, ill thought out and inadvised.
