; I have read some (old) page about a 'database reset'? Are you going to reset all players to 0?
: A database reset was discussed in early 2007 to simplify migration to a new version of the marauroa infrastructure and introduce a new RP system. The database was migrated to Maraura 2.0 without any dataloss. The new RP system will not be there as a "big bang" but was developed in small steps. For example training ("camping") was something that was required in the past but is optional now. Low level players get a penalty when using items designed for high level players. No database reset was required for these changed. While we are still working on improving the RP system even more, there is no database reset planned.
: Stendhal is an RPG which is very much ''in development.'' For now we have a simple RP system but there have been ideas floating around of a much more advanced one. See for example [[StendhalRPProposal]]. Now, with such an RP the old stats would need re-writing in terms of the new stats, perhaps with some sort of formula. And let say new players were choosing a class and race when they create an account, what do we do about already created accounts? We would need some solution. Also older players may have a massive advantage over new players. So, simplest, would just be to reset the database and start again. BUT none of these ideas have been coded yet and EVEN IF they were, there may be a way to deal with it so that we DON'T need to reset database. Some kind of formula for example. It is all 'ifs' and 'buts'. There was a forum topic on it, started in March 2007, when developing a new RP seemed like it was going to come a lot sooner ... a new RP did not surface (lack of time from developers, other important bugs to fix instead, etc) but you may like to read the discussion out of interest. It is here: http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1695999&forum_id=3190
:In summary: '''a database reset is not coming any time soon'''.
