General Tips
Other NPCs who teach you initial steps are:
:* Ketteh Wehoh, in Semos village, teaches you how to talk with NPCs
:* Monogenes, in Semos city, gives you a map of Semos
:* Io Flotto in Semos temple, tells you how to /msg other players and more.

In general you should remember the following things:
Initial strategy:
:* Say hi to characters with blue names. Keep the conversation going with yes and blue-marked words. Sometimes yes or no is the only usable answer. Further interesting topics to talk about are usually help, job, offer and quest.
# Kill rats to get money (Hint: double-click body, double-click to take coins).
:* Read all texts carefully (because they might not be repeated)
#* Look in the charity chest south of the Inn in Semos for free armor.
:* <npc>Carmen</npc> can heal you for free
#* Otherwise, buy a sheep (-30 coins) and walk your sheep near red berries (takes 5-10 min). Sell fat sheep (+150 coins for weight 100 sheep) to Sato.
:* Eat <item>cheese</item>, <item>meat</item> or other food to regain your health.
# Buy "dagger" in semos tavern from Xin Blanca.
:* Target creatures that are about half your level
# Get a studded shield from Hayunn Naratha by returning to him 3 times.
:* Prefer fast weapons (small rate value)
# Bring food and go fight in the town dungeon and nearby areas to level up. Each level allows you to explore further away and come back to town alive (Found Orc? Run! Many orcs? R.I.P.)

# Buy "old scythe" (blacksmith), then explore farm (east/right-wards) to get lots of food.
Initial strategy
# Ask around for a quest or task to earn XP. Don't forget Mayor Sakhs, whose quest is repeatable once a day.
Get some money:
* Kill <creature>rat|rats</creature> to get <item>money</item> (Hint: click to attack, click from the corpse window that opens to take coins).
* buy a sheep (-30 money) and walk your sheep near red berries (takes 5-10 min). Sell fat sheep (+150 money for weight 100 sheep) to Sato.

Get some XP:
* Do the quests in Semos City by talking to NPCs.
* Do the monster quest for <npc>Mayor Sakhs</npc> in the townhall of Semos City, it is repeatable once a day. Ask Starkad (south of Semos) about how to find creatures.

Get some basic equipment:
* Look in the charity chest south of the Inn in Semos City for free armor.
* Buy <item>dagger</item> (25 money) from Xin Blanca (Semos tavern).
* Get <item>studded shield</item> from Hayunn Naratha by returning to him a third time after you talked to Monogenes.

Interesting areas
* The <item>chicken</item> meat of the <creature>pigeon|pigeons</creature> near <npc>Jenny</npc>'s windmill is very delicious.
* At level 4 the wolfs north of Semos City are a good source for food.
* Collect food and fight around Semos
* At about level 8 try bears east of Semos, but be careful in this area.
* At about level 10 try <creature>cavalryman gnome|Gnome</creature> Village in the north west of Semos or visit the <creature>kobold|kobolds</creature> north of Semos in the Semos Mines
* Ask NPCs (blue names) for quest or task.

More Tips
Tips:
* Don't get bored with rats -- instead bring a friend and go deeper in the dungeon!
* Being poisoned swaps left/right and up/down cursor keys.
* Being poisoned swaps left/right and up/down cursor keys.
* Bring a friend to go deeper in the Semos Dungeons.
* Two-legged monsters give armor/weapons. Try attacking a gnome (farm areas).
* Areas where you are protected from being attacked by other players are marked green on minimap.
* At about lvl5 try kobold (north of semos, in the mines).
* Keep an eye on the number of white skulls below the minimap.

Things to avoid:
Things to avoid:
* Be careful in Semos Dungeons because it gets quite dangerous.
* Dying, because dying means you lose stuff. (Or leave your stuff at the bank, then run around and dying = coming back home! You still loose EXP points and skills though.)
* Don't buy armor (in tavern back room) before trying the free places: chest in mud, tasks/quests (pants for free), stuff on the ground left by other players, or dungeon monster drops.
* Don't buy armor (in tavern back room) before trying the free places: charity chest (in Semos City), talking and doing tasks/quests (legs, shield for free), getting it from corpses in Semos Dungeons.
* Don't waste money in the "wishing well" lottery (until you become rich). Dice gambling is more rewarding at low levels - check the list of prizes.
* Don't waste money in the "wishing well" lottery (until you become rich). Dice gambling is more rewarding at low levels - check the list of prizes on the walls by the gambling table in Semos Tavern.
* Don't attack other players (with white names), it'll prevent you from free healing (for a "while?")
* Don't attack players with white names - that disqualifies you from free healing (for a while)
* Don't go too far from the city and plains because you are not protected from attack from other players there and you may meet creatures which are too strong for you.
* Don't go too far from Semos. Other players and stronger creatures can kill you.

Later game strategies
Always carry:
* <item>potion|potions</item> (buy from Carmen (if you are rich) or <npc>Dr. Feelgood</npc> (Ados zoo) at better prices)
* a <item>home scroll</item> (buy them from <npc>Haizen</npc>'s hut north-east of Ados rock) to get you out of emergencies
* <item>antidote|antidotes</item> (kill <creature>deer</creature> to get these) if you often get poisoned

Hunt creatures with useful items:
* kill <creature>orc chief</creature>, <creature>gnome|gnomes</creature>, and others that drop <item>potion|potions</item> or <item>minor potion|minor potions</item>.
* Get <item>ham</item> from "big" animals like <creature>lion</creature>, <creature>bear</creature>, <creature>boar</creature>.
* Two-legged monsters give armor/weapons. Try attacking a <creature>gnome</creature> (farm areas).

Make money:
* Ham can be traded for items with older players, or used to make food (Semos bakery)
* Buy <item>old scythe</item> (blacksmith), then explore farm (east/right-wards) to get lots of food that you can sell
* Sell armor in tavern, Gnome Village, etc. Check the NPC List for some details.

Get XP:
* Visit Ados City in the east to do more quests

Get attack XP and defence XP:
* You should get hits for increasing both your attack and defence levels. In order to increase your attack level, you should get hits and do damage to creatures or players, simultaneously.

Tips:
* Having a good shield is most important, then a good armor, then cloak. The def is weighted to favour in this order.

Later game strategies
# Learn which armor can be sold back to NPCs and collect these. (Read the blackboards by Xin Blanca in the Inn and McPegleg upstairs from the inn)
# Head East to Ados city and ask the NPCs there for quests
# Head South Wast to Orril castle and explore (but not too far!)
# Kill creatures like orc chief and gnomes which drop healing potions, or buy them from Carmen if you have the cash
# Potions are even cheaper from Dr Feelgood at Ados wildlife refuge
# Kill lions, bears, boars, etc to get ham and meat which you may be able to swap with other players for items
# If you want to invest in a good defensive item, choose a shield because they are weighted to give better DEF. (e.g. A shield def 10 gives better def than armor def 10).
# Starkad, south of semos plains, will tell you where to find specific creatures, as well as what they drop and if you would be strong enough for them.
# Always carry a home scroll (buy them from Haizen's hut north of Ados rock) to get you out of emergencies
# Carry antidotes (kill deer to get these) if you are prone to getting poisoned
